Takamura

It's not fair, you know. You are born, you grow up, you gain power enough to turn into a magnificent monster. Everything's fine, your life is perfect, you can't die permanently. Hey! It's great! And then someone comes along who turns your whole world over while you're not looking. And after that, everything changes.

For a Gohma, whose entire life is based on the idea that hate is a source of power, love is to be laughed at. Love is some bizarre concept invented to make weakness not seem as bad. For this man, who disguised himself as a normal human and took the name Takamura, it was an illusion. He played at being in awe of Rin's beauty, recognizing that she had a wonderful smile and using what he thought was her vanity to get her to let him take photographs of her. And with his magic, each photograph punctured a hole in her soul. The photos, the media equipment, would drain her power, pass it through a monstrous filter and dump it into humans, who would then become deadly monsters under the control of the Gohma. And he laughed about it, amused that he could so easily fool Rin. Laughed at the Dairanger, too, but was injured fighting them, and had to retreat. He went back to the studio to supervise the last operation which would kill Rin. Her debut, so that those near where the song was being broadcast, could watch her live. So that her power would drain into them and be lost completely.

He wore his human face there, and she found him injured, and took care to bandage the bleeding wound. He was touched in spite of himself, she seemed so sincere. So he asked her as she left to do the song, why did she smile all the time. And she told him, blushing ferociously, that it was because she liked him. And as he watched her singing, fighting her own exhaustion to do this well, he realized she did this not for her vanity, but for him. Ever heard the saying "ton of bricks?" And he raced into the studio to drag her out of there, the song unfinished. To get her away before she could be killed by the steady drain of her soul.

And he told her what he was, and though she refused at first to believe him, she had to when he fell to his knees in the sand and wailed, "Why did I have to be born a Gohma?" and so she came to him and assured him that, Gohma or no, he was Takamura and she loved him. And they were about to kiss when Gara arrived, pissed off no end. But neither of the lovers would yeild the other to her. Rin's power was too drained, she could not change into her fighting armor, so Takamura defended her transforming into his Gohma-form to fight Gara. And Gara dealt him a mortal blow, so he died in Rin's arms.

"I want to be reborn as a human, so I can see your smiling face once more...."

Gara sneered at all this and blamed his death on the weakness of love. But Rin told her to shut up, and without using the aura changer, transferred into battle armor and decked the evil woman with a vicious right cross. Rin promised she would remember Takamura forever, and always treasure their short time together.
