3 Stupid Gohma Akomaru Media Monster Jin Shiryuu Doushi Kaku Kujaku Mystery Mother Uncle & Fiance

Chouryou Tetsumenpi, Suspended in the Distance Shamelessness

I can hear you going "huh?" One of the favorite games to play in Japan is choosing Kanji for a character's name. The trio of Kanji that makes up the name Tetsumenpi means shamelessness. The chou is suspended, the ryou is far away. This was all very deliberately chosen.

Six thousand years ago, he was a Dai. More than that, he was the leader of the Dairanger and pilot of the red dragon, Ryuuseiou. But something happened. Lured by the promise of power, tainted by the war, he entered into the service of a powerful Gohma Lord, High Priest Saw. What he paid for this was the lives of his four teammates. He considered it well worth the cost, for six-thousand years.

I don't know exactly how it happened. Either he was on reconnaissance, or on vacation. But he met a beautiful woman and married her. She bore him a son, and for five years they were very happy together. But then he was called back to the Gohma. So he faked his death and left them. He took with him only a photograph of his wife and children. I believe he asked Kaku to watch over his little family and keep them safe. What he did not know, even have an inkling, was that his son would become the Ryuranger. Ryuuseiou itself chose him. And Kaku kept the secret of father and son until he had to tell, to save them both.

You see, Chouryou had been sent to get Kaku. And do what with him, I'm not entirely certain. But Doushi Kaku was too well protected. The only thing to do was make him come to them. So Chouryou, who had the ki-force of the Dai and the monster-power of the Gohma well in hand, easily captured Rin, Kazu and Daigo, leaving only a terrified Shouji to take the message to Kaku. Ryo had escaped capture by not happening to be around when the attack was launched. On demand, Kaku explained Chouryou's history, then locked Ryo in a closet and took off to meet the challenge. But our resourceful young hero tricked Shouji into opening the door and went after him. Doushi Kaku met Chouryou in battle, and was holding his own decently until distracted by Ryo getting attacked trying to rescue the others. Kaku was injured, and Ryo captured and beaten by Chouryou, who would then have killed him as the most beloved of Kaku's apprentices. But when that moment came and Kaku shouted out the truth, Chouryou stopped. And he stared into the eyes of the stunned youngster at his mercy, and saw his wife's eyes. Knew it to be true. So he just turned and walked away. Ryo did not handle the knowledge so well. The fact that this traitor who had slaughtered his own team was his supposedly dead father sat very badly with him. But Chouryou was drawn to Ryo. Though our young hero asked, even begged to know how the man who loved his mother could possibly be the same person, Chouryou made no attempt to explain himself. Nor made he any attempt to leave the Gohma. But he did leave with Ryo the photograph that was his last relic of his short life as a father and husband.

Doushi Kaku was safe, but the Dairanger had to fight High Priest Saw. And that one managed to take them all and was going to kill them. But it started with Ryo, to torment and bash him about. Injured and knowing he would probably die soon, he called for his father. And eventually Chouryou could bear no more. He turned on his master and attempted to kill him. Receiving a fatal blow for his troubles, he collapsed and was dying. Ryou held him close, and then they appeared. The four spirits of the other original Dairanger. They had come for him, to tell him they forgave him. He, and the other four, passed on ancient knowledge to their successors before departing this world. And for the first time, the five took their beasts and formed together to fight High Priest Saw gone giant, and destroy him.
