Kirin Ranger

“VŽž¯˜a
Sky Time Star Kazu

Kirin Ranger Kazu Tenjisei, the marvellous, pretty-faced master of the hair-salons. Always impeccably dressed, groomed, moving. A cool city boy. Except that was all an act. He ran away from his native town when he was fifteen years old. A little old lady selling ramen from her street-stall noted this fragile boy staring longingly and very lost nearby, and took pity on him. If it hadn't been for her, he would probably have returned home. But Kazu turned himself into a cultured city-boy. He was a great dancer, he had mastered the Drunken Fist, I guess it's called, fighting style. And odd though it may seem, he had a tendency to go rushing into battle when perhaps he should have stopped and thought, first.

Kazu didn't have his own feature episode until 12, wherein he faced a tofu-Gohma in a drinking contest. But his teammates had made certain his drink was clean. He didn't have another feature episode until 25, wherein his photograph was taken by the copy-machine-Gohma, who then produced his evil twin. However good the copy was, it was still flawed, and when it faced the real Kazu alone, was destroyed. (note: the actors are identical twins, which made the duo scenes so much easier to shoot, don't you agree?) During the episodes 28-31 arc, he became friends with Kameo, who was the only person to learn Kazu's secret: namely that he was a country-boy. The two became fast friends, and in episode 31, when we discovered a secret even Kameo didn't know about himself, we also watched Kazu captured and tormented, nearly to death, by a powerful set of evil Gohma. Kazu managed the rest of the series without being the absolute focus of any attacks. He was always there for his group.
